Join us for a roundtable conversation featuring Hosam Aboul-Ela, co-editor of Elsewhere Texts, and members of the Cairo-based Turjoman Translators Collective (Samah Selim, Hussein El-Hajj and Mariam Naji) about the intellectual, political and material challenges of translating cultural criticism and social theory to and from the languages of the Global South. Drawing on practices of collaborative translation and contrapuntal reading, the panel will explore how translation work confronts power asymmetries in knowledge circulation, negotiates epistemic traditions, and navigates the institutional conditions shaping which texts travel—and how.

The conversation continues with a reception following the event. All are welcome!
