Bio: François Cornilliat is Distinguished Professor of French teaching in the Department of French at Rutgers University. Professor Cornilliat is widely recognized as the foremost scholar of the poetry of the French Renaissance working in the United States today, and one of the most significant figures in the study of 15th and 16th century French literature more generally. He is the author of two major, field-defining monographs, as well as two textbooks, three edited collections of essays, and over 70 articles and other scholarly essays. Professor Cornilliat is the recipient of the Prix Monseigneur Marcel from the Académie française. He was named Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Ministry of National Education in 2001. At Rutgers, he has been honored with a Henry Rutgers Research Fellowship, a Board of Trustees Fellowship, and Excellence in Teaching Award from the Graduate School–New Brunswick and 2016 Chancellor's Professorship in the Arts and Sciences Humanities.
